Brenda Cooper is an associate professor. She joined the faculty at USU in September 1994 and was promoted to Associate Professor and awarded tenure in April 2000.
I. TEACHING & ADVISING (65%)

II. RESEARCH ACTIVITIES (20%).
A. With co-author Edward C. Pease. Data collection is completed and critical analysis ongoing for research explicating the framing strategies in national news coverage of the controversy surrounding the Dixie Chicks’ criticism of President Bush on the eve of the 2003 Iraq invasion. Over 400 news articles and opinion columns are being analyzed for framing strategies and the subsequent ideological, social and political implications.
III. SERVICE (15%)
A. University, College & Department Committees: Center for Women & Gender Steering Committee; HASS Undergraduate Council; JCOM: Library liaison.
B. Professional service: Editorial board, Critical Studies in Media Communication. Manuscript reviewer for Western Journal of Communication and several other media studies journals including the international journals, Feminist Media Studies, Member: Association of Education in Journalism & Mass Communication, Organization on Research on Women & Communication, National Communication Association, Western Speech Communication Association.
